Bone Grafting for Dental Implants: When You Need It and What to Expect

By Dental Tips & Guides

By Dr. Maryam Bangash, DDS (NYU) | Dreamworks Dental Studios, Rawalpindi | Last reviewed: October 2026

Bone grafting for dental implants is sometimes needed because an implant needs enough healthy jawbone to hold it firmly, much like a fence post needs solid ground. After a tooth is lost, the bone in that area slowly shrinks. If too much bone has been lost, a bone graft rebuilds it so an implant can be placed safely and last.

Why bone is lost after losing a tooth

Tooth roots stimulate the jawbone every time you chew. Once a tooth is removed, that stimulation stops and the bone begins to resorb, most quickly in the first months. Gum disease, long-term denture wear and infections can also reduce bone volume.

Signs you may need a bone graft

You can’t tell by looking. Bone volume is measured on X-rays, and often on a 3D CBCT scan. A graft is more likely if:

  • The tooth was lost a long time ago
  • The tooth was lost to gum disease or a long-standing infection
  • The implant is in the upper back jaw, close to the sinus
  • You’ve worn a removable denture for years

Types of bone grafting for dental implants

Socket preservation

Graft material is placed into the socket right after an extraction to limit bone shrinkage. It is often the simplest way to keep implant options open.

Ridge augmentation

This rebuilds the width or height of the jaw where bone has already been lost.

Sinus lift

This adds bone under the sinus floor in the upper back jaw, where bone is often thin.

Graft materials include processed bone from approved sources and synthetic substitutes. Dr. Maryam Bangash, who holds a Fellowship in Implantology, will explain which material and technique suits your case.

Healing time

  • Graft at the same time as the implant: possible when bone loss is minor, so there’s no added waiting.
  • Graft first, implant later: typically 3–6 months of healing before the implant is placed.

Overseas patients can often plan the graft on one trip and the implant on the next. See our overseas patient guide.

Recovery after a bone graft

  • Some swelling and tenderness for 2–4 days is normal
  • Use a cold compress on the outside of the cheek for the first day
  • Eat soft food and chew on the other side
  • Avoid smoking, which slows healing and can cause the graft to fail
  • Take any medicines exactly as prescribed
  • Come back for your review so Dr. Maryam can check healing

Bone graft cost

ProcedurePrice at Dreamworks
Bone graft materialPKR 30,000 per 1cc
Membrane (when needed)PKR 30,000

Socket preservation and ridge augmentation are priced by how much graft material your case needs, which your scan will show. This is in addition to the implant itself. An implant with crown at our clinic is PKR 150,000–180,000, and implant consultations are free. See the full dental implant cost guide.

Frequently Asked Questions — Bone Grafting for Dental Implants

Is bone grafting painful?

It’s done under local anaesthetic. Afterwards, discomfort is usually similar to an extraction and settles within a few days.

Does everyone need a bone graft before an implant?

No. Many patients have enough bone. Your scan will show whether a graft is needed.

What if I can’t have a graft?

Shorter implants, or a different option such as a bridge or denture, may be suitable. See implants vs dentures and our dental implants page.

Emergency Dentist in Bahria Town, Rawalpindi — Same-Day Toothache Care

By Dental Tips & Guides

By Dr. Maryam Bangash, DDS (NYU) | Dreamworks Dental Studios, Rawalpindi | Last reviewed: October 2026

Dental pain rarely waits for a convenient moment. If you have a severe toothache, a broken tooth or a swollen face, you need to see a dentist quickly, not in two weeks. As an emergency dentist in Bahria Town, Dreamworks Dental Studios keeps same-day slots open for urgent cases at our clinic in Phase 8 Business District, so patients across Bahria Town can be seen close to home.

Call or WhatsApp 0332-3333577 and tell us what is happening. We will advise you on what to do right now and book the earliest available time.

What counts as a dental emergency?

Some problems need attention the same day. Others can safely wait a day or two. As a general guide, contact us straight away if you have:

  • Severe or throbbing toothache that painkillers don’t control
  • Swelling in the gum, face or jaw, especially with fever
  • A knocked-out or loosened adult tooth after an injury
  • A broken or cracked tooth with sharp pain
  • Bleeding that won’t stop after an extraction
  • A lost crown or filling that leaves the tooth painful or sensitive

Go to a hospital emergency department instead if swelling is spreading towards your eye or neck, or you have difficulty breathing or swallowing. These can be signs of a serious infection that needs hospital care.

What to do before you reach the clinic

Toothache

Rinse with warm salt water and gently floss around the tooth in case food is trapped. Take an over-the-counter painkiller as directed on the pack. Don’t put aspirin directly on the gum, because it can burn the tissue.

Knocked-out tooth

Pick it up by the crown (the white part), not the root. If it’s dirty, rinse it briefly in milk. Try to place it back in its socket, or keep it in milk, and come in immediately. A tooth has the best chance of being saved within the first hour.

Broken tooth or lost filling

Rinse your mouth and keep any broken pieces. A piece of sugar-free gum or temporary filling material from a pharmacy can cover a sharp edge until your visit.

Swelling

Use a cold compress on the outside of your cheek, 10 minutes on and 10 off. Don’t apply heat, and don’t try to drain a swelling yourself.

What happens at your emergency appointment

Dr. Maryam Bangash will first find the cause of the pain and get you comfortable. That usually means a focused examination and a digital X-ray. Depending on what we find, treatment may include:

  • Draining an infection and starting antibiotics where they are clinically needed
  • Starting root canal treatment to relieve pain from an infected nerve
  • Smoothing, bonding or temporarily repairing a broken tooth
  • Re-cementing a crown, or placing a temporary filling
  • Removing a tooth that cannot be saved, including wisdom teeth

We will explain your options and the cost before we start. If you need further treatment, we will plan it with you rather than rushing it on the day.

Emergency appointment cost

An urgent consultation with X-rays is PKR 3,000, the same fee as a regular consultation. Any treatment needed on the day is quoted to you before it begins.

Emergency dentist in Bahria Town: opening hours

We are open Monday to Thursday, 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and Sunday, 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Same-day emergency slots are offered within these hours. If you message us outside these hours, we will reply as soon as the clinic opens.

Our clinic in Bahria Town Phase 8 is a short drive from most residential phases, with parking at Capital Tower.

Frequently Asked Questions — Emergency Dentist in Bahria Town

Can you see me today?

In most cases, yes, during clinic hours. Call or WhatsApp 0332-3333577 and we will give you the earliest slot available.

Will the dentist pull my tooth on the first visit?

Not necessarily. Saving the tooth is usually the first aim. Extraction is only recommended when a tooth can’t be restored, and we will discuss that with you first.

Is a dental abscess an emergency?

Yes. An abscess is an infection that will not clear up on its own. It needs to be treated by a dentist, even if the pain eases.

Do you treat children in an emergency?

Yes. We see children for toothache and dental injuries. See our children’s dentist page for more.

braces vs clear aligners

Braces vs Clear Aligners in Pakistan: Cost, Comfort and Results

By Dental Tips & Guides

By Dr. Maryam Bangash, DDS (NYU) | Dreamworks Dental Studios, Rawalpindi | Last reviewed: October 2026

Braces vs clear aligners is one of the first decisions you face when you want straighter teeth. Both can improve your smile, make your teeth easier to clean and make your bite more comfortable. Both work well when they suit the case, and the right choice depends on how complex your teeth are, your lifestyle and your budget. This guide compares them side by side, including what each costs in Pakistan.

How each one works

Braces

Small brackets are bonded to the teeth and connected by a wire. The wire is adjusted at regular visits to guide the teeth into position. Brackets can be metal or tooth-coloured ceramic.

Clear aligners

Aligners are a series of custom, almost invisible plastic trays. Each set moves the teeth slightly and is changed every 1–2 weeks. They are worn about 22 hours a day and removed to eat and brush.

Braces vs Clear aligners compared

CleaningHarder; brush around bracketsEasy; remove to brush and floss
Best forComplex crowding, bite and rotation problemsMild to moderate crowding and spacing
Relies on patientLowHigh; must be worn 20–22 hours a day

At Dreamworks Dental Studios, clear aligner treatment costs PKR 200,000–250,000. For a full breakdown, see our clear aligners cost guide.

Braces vs Clear aligners: which costs less?

In Pakistan, clear aligners often cost more than traditional metal braces, because every set of trays is custom-made from a digital scan of your teeth. The difference is usually smaller for mild cases that need only a short course of aligners.

When you compare prices, check what each quote includes:

  • The initial scan or impressions and the treatment plan
  • All aligner sets, or all brace adjustments, for the full course
  • Extra refinement trays if your teeth need fine-tuning
  • Retainers at the end of treatment
  • Follow-up visits during treatment

A lower headline price can end up costing more if retainers or extra visits are charged separately.

Who is a good candidate for aligners?

  • Adults and older teens with mild to moderate crowding or gaps
  • People who don’t want others to notice their treatment at work or university
  • Patients who will reliably wear and look after the trays

Braces are often better for severe crowding, large bite discrepancies, or when daily wear can’t be guaranteed.

How to choose between braces and clear aligners

  1. Get an assessment first. An examination and scan show whether your case is mild, moderate or complex.
  2. Be honest about wear time. Aligners only work if you wear them 20–22 hours a day. If that sounds difficult, braces may suit you better.
  3. Think about your daily life. Aligners are almost invisible and can be taken out, which many working adults and students prefer.
  4. Compare the full cost. Ask for a written quote that includes retainers and follow-up visits.

If clear aligners suit your teeth, Dr. Maryam Bangash can plan and supervise your treatment at our Bahria Town clinic. If braces are the better option, she will refer you to a trusted orthodontist.

Results and retainers

Either way, a retainer is essential afterwards. Teeth naturally tend to drift back. Wearing a retainer as directed protects your result for the long term.

When straightening isn’t needed

For a single chipped or slightly uneven front tooth, bonding or veneers can sometimes give a quicker cosmetic improvement. They don’t change the bite, though. Dr. Maryam Bangash will explain what each option can and can’t achieve. Book a consultation at our Bahria Town clinic, or read about cosmetic dentistry in Rawalpindi.

Frequently Asked Questions — Braces vs Clear Aligners

Are clear aligners as effective as braces?

For mild to moderate cases, yes, when worn as prescribed. Complex cases often do better with braces.

Am I too old for braces or aligners?

No. Adults of any age with healthy teeth and gums can straighten their teeth.

Do aligners hurt?

You may feel pressure for a day or two with each new set. That is a sign they’re working.

Can overseas patients do aligner treatment?

Often yes. The scan and start can be done during a visit, and progress can be monitored remotely with planned check-ins. See our overseas patient page.

does scaling damage teeth

Does Scaling and Polishing Damage Your Teeth? The Truth, Explained

By Dental Tips & Guides

By Dr. Maryam Bangash, DDS (NYU) | Dreamworks Dental Studios, Rawalpindi | Last reviewed: September 2026

Does scaling damage teeth? This is one of the most widespread dental myths in Pakistan — and it’s completely false. If you’ve ever avoided a dental cleaning for this exact reason, you’re not alone. In fact, avoiding scaling and polishing causes far more harm than the procedure itself ever could. For checkups, cleanings and everyday dental care, see our page on general dentistry in Rawalpindi.

So, Does Scaling Damage Teeth? Here’s Why the Myth Exists

Many patients notice their teeth feel slightly different after a cleaning — sometimes more sensitive, sometimes with small visible gaps between teeth that weren’t noticeable before. It’s easy to assume the treatment caused this. But here’s what’s actually happening: scaling doesn’t remove tooth structure — it removes hardened plaque (tartar) that had built up on and between your teeth, often for months or years.

That “gap” you notice isn’t new — it was always there, hidden under a layer of tartar. Scaling simply reveals your teeth’s true, healthy surface.

What Scaling and Polishing Actually Do

  • Scaling removes tartar — a hardened, bacteria-laden buildup that ordinary brushing cannot remove — from the tooth surface and just below the gumline.
  • Polishing smooths the tooth surface afterward, removing surface stains and making it harder for plaque to re-accumulate quickly.

Neither step touches or thins your enamel. Enamel is far harder than the ultrasonic scaling instruments used, which are specifically calibrated to remove tartar without affecting tooth structure.

The Real Reason Teeth Can Feel Sensitive After Scaling

Mild, temporary sensitivity after scaling is normal and expected — but not because your teeth were damaged. Once tartar is removed, root surfaces that were covered (often due to mild gum recession hidden beneath the buildup) are exposed to hot, cold, and air for the first time. This sensitivity typically settles within a few days and is a sign the treatment worked, not a sign of harm.

What Actually Happens If You Avoid Scaling

This is the part the myth gets backwards. Skipping regular scaling doesn’t protect your teeth — it allows tartar and bacteria to keep building up, leading to:

  • Gingivitis (early gum inflammation)
  • Periodontitis (advanced gum disease — the leading cause of adult tooth loss)
  • Bad breath that brushing alone can’t fix
  • Bone loss around the teeth over time

Avoiding scaling out of fear doesn’t preserve your teeth — it puts them at genuine, long-term risk.

How Often Should You Get Scaling Done?

Dentists worldwide, including at Dreamworks Dental Studios, recommend professional scaling and polishing every 6 months for most patients — more frequently if you have a history of gum disease, smoke, or have diabetes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does scaling make teeth loose?

No. Scaling does not loosen teeth. If a tooth feels loose after scaling, it was already loose beforehand due to underlying gum disease — the scaling simply removed the tartar that was temporarily holding it rigid in place. This is actually an important early warning sign your dentist needed to catch.

Does scaling remove enamel?

No. Ultrasonic scaling instruments are specifically designed to remove tartar without affecting the much harder enamel underneath.

Why do my teeth look more yellow after scaling?

They don’t — tartar itself is often white or pale, so once it’s removed, your natural tooth shade (which was always there) becomes visible again.

Is scaling painful?

Most patients feel mild pressure, not pain. Local anesthesia isn’t usually needed for routine scaling.

Clear Aligners in Pakistan — Cost, Options and Results

By Dental Tips & Guides

By Dr. Maryam Bangash, DDS (NYU) | Dreamworks Dental Studios, Rawalpindi | Last reviewed: September 2026

Clear aligners cost in Pakistan – Clear aligners in Pakistan are rapidly becoming the preferred alternative to traditional braces — offering straighter teeth without visible metal wires or brackets. But with multiple brands, widely varying costs, and limited reliable information available locally, patients in Rawalpindi and Islamabad often struggle to understand their options. In this complete guide I’ll explain how clear aligners work, what they cost in Pakistan, which cases they are suitable for, and what realistic results to expect. For all our smile treatments, see our page on cosmetic dentistry in Rawalpindi.

What Are Clear Aligners?

Clear aligners are a series of custom-made, removable, transparent plastic trays that gradually move teeth into the correct position. Each tray is worn for 1–2 weeks before being replaced with the next in the series. Treatment typically involves 12–40+ trays depending on the complexity of the case.

Unlike traditional braces, clear aligners are:

  • Nearly invisible when worn
  • Removable for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing
  • More comfortable — no metal brackets or wires
  • Easier to maintain oral hygiene during treatment

Clear Aligners Cost in Pakistan — 2026 Price Guide

Moderate treatmentModerate crowding, spacing or rotationPKR 150,000 – 300,000
Comprehensive treatmentComplex alignment issuesPKR 300,000 – 500,000

At Dreamworks Dental Studios in Bahria Town, clear aligner treatment costs PKR 200,000–250,000. Your exact cost depends on how many aligners your case needs and is confirmed at your consultation.

Clear aligners in Pakistan cost 60–75% less than equivalent treatment in the UK or USA — making Pakistan an increasingly popular destination for overseas Pakistanis seeking orthodontic treatment during visits home.

RemovabilityFully removableFixed — cannot remove
Oral hygieneEasy — remove to brush and flossMore difficult around brackets
Best forAdults and older teens, mild–moderate casesComplex cases, younger patients
Treatment duration6–24 months12–36 months

Are Clear Aligners Right for You?

Clear aligners are suitable for:

  • Mild to moderate crowding or spacing
  • Minor bite corrections
  • Patients who want a discreet treatment option
  • Adults and older teenagers with good compliance
  • Patients who previously had braces and experienced relapse

Clear aligners may not be suitable for:

  • Severe crowding or skeletal bite problems
  • Younger children whose jaws are still developing
  • Patients who cannot commit to wearing aligners 20–22 hours per day
  • Cases requiring significant tooth rotation or vertical movement

How Long Does Clear Aligner Treatment Take in Pakistan?

Treatment duration depends entirely on the complexity of the case:

  • Minor correction: 3–6 months (6–15 aligner trays)
  • Moderate treatment: 6–12 months (15–30 trays)
  • Comprehensive treatment: 12–24 months (30+ trays)

Each tray is worn for 1–2 weeks and must be worn 20–22 hours per day for treatment to progress on schedule. Compliance is the single biggest factor determining treatment success with clear aligners.

Frequently Asked Questions — Clear Aligners Cost in Pakistan

How much do clear aligners cost in Pakistan?

Clear aligners in Pakistan typically cost PKR 150,000–300,000 for moderate cases and PKR 300,000–500,000 for complex cases. At Dreamworks Dental Studios in Bahria Town, a full assessment and cost breakdown is provided at your consultation — with transparent pricing and no hidden charges.

Are clear aligners as effective as braces in Pakistan?

For mild to moderate alignment issues, clear aligners deliver results comparable to braces. For complex cases involving severe crowding, significant bite problems, or jaw discrepancies, traditional braces or combined orthodontic-surgical treatment may be more effective. Dr. Bangash will give you an honest assessment of which option is best for your specific case. See our full comparison of braces vs clear aligners.

Can I eat normally with clear aligners?

Yes — one of the biggest advantages of clear aligners is that you remove them to eat and drink anything you like. There are no dietary restrictions. You must remove aligners before eating or drinking anything other than water, and brush before reinserting them.

What happens after clear aligner treatment?

After completing clear aligner treatment, retainers must be worn to maintain the corrected tooth positions. Without retainers, teeth will gradually shift back toward their original positions — a process called relapse. Most patients wear retainers nightly long-term after treatment completion.

Can overseas Pakistanis get clear aligner treatment in Rawalpindi?

Yes — overseas Pakistanis can begin clear aligner treatment during a visit home. However, clear aligner treatment requires multiple follow-up appointments over 6–24 months. Patients who visit Pakistan periodically can often schedule check-ins to coincide with visits home. Dr. Bangash can discuss a treatment plan that accommodates your travel schedule.

How much does Invisalign cost in Pakistan?

Invisalign is the best-known brand of clear aligners, but several aligner systems are available in Pakistan. The price depends on the brand, how complex your case is and how many aligners you need. Across Pakistan, moderate cases typically cost PKR 150,000 – 300,000 and complex cases PKR 300,000 – 500,000, with premium brands such as Invisalign usually at the higher end. At Dreamworks Dental Studios we use well-known aligner brands available in Pakistan, and treatment costs PKR 200,000 – 250,000.

Night Guard for Teeth Grinding in Rawalpindi — Symptoms, Options and Cost

By Dental Tips & Guides

By Dr. Maryam Bangash, DDS (NYU) | Dreamworks Dental Studios, Rawalpindi | Last reviewed: September 2026

Teeth grinding — known clinically as bruxism — is one of the most underdiagnosed dental conditions in Pakistan. Most people who grind their teeth do so during sleep and are completely unaware of it until significant damage has already occurred. A custom night guard in Rawalpindi is the most effective way to protect your teeth from bruxism damage. In this guide I’ll explain how to recognise teeth grinding, what causes it, and how a professionally fitted night guard can prevent lasting damage. For checkups, cleanings and everyday dental care, see our page on general dentistry in Rawalpindi.

Signs You May Be Grinding Your Teeth

  • Waking up with jaw pain, headaches, or ear pain
  • Teeth that appear worn down, flattened, or shorter than before
  • Increased tooth sensitivity — especially to cold
  • Chipped or cracked teeth with no obvious cause
  • Tight or tired jaw muscles in the morning
  • Indentations on the tongue from teeth pressure
  • A partner reporting that they hear grinding sounds during sleep
  • Damage to existing dental restorations — fillings, crowns, or veneers cracking

What Causes Teeth Grinding?

Bruxism has multiple contributing factors:

  • Stress and anxiety — the most common trigger. Many patients grind significantly more during stressful periods
  • Sleep disorders — bruxism is closely associated with sleep apnoea and disrupted sleep
  • Bite misalignment — an uneven bite causes the jaw to seek a more comfortable position during sleep
  • Certain medications — some antidepressants and stimulant medications increase bruxism risk
  • Caffeine and alcohol — both increase the likelihood and severity of grinding

Cost of Night Guard in Rawalpindi — 2026 Price Guide

TypeDescriptionCost (PKR)
Night GuardFor severe grinding or clenchingPKR 15,000–25,000

Custom vs Over-the-Counter Night Guards

Pharmacy night guards are available in Pakistan for PKR 500–2,000. While cheaper, they have significant limitations:

  • One-size-fits-all design that rarely fits properly
  • Often cause jaw discomfort due to poor fit
  • Can actually worsen grinding in some cases
  • Wear out quickly and need frequent replacement

A custom night guard from Dreamworks Dental Studios in Rawalpindi is fabricated from precise impressions of your teeth — fitting perfectly, lasting 3–5 years, and providing genuine protection. The additional investment in a custom guard pays for itself many times over in prevented dental damage.

What Happens If Bruxism Is Left Untreated?

Untreated teeth grinding in Rawalpindi leads to progressively serious consequences:

  • Enamel erosion — once gone, enamel cannot regenerate
  • Tooth sensitivity that worsens over time
  • Fractured teeth requiring crowns or extraction
  • Damaged veneers, crowns, and fillings requiring premature replacement
  • Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder — chronic jaw pain and clicking
  • Receding gums and bone loss in severe cases

Frequently Asked Questions — Night Guard in Rawalpindi (Teeth Grinding)

How do I know if I need a night guard in Rawalpindi?

The most reliable way to know is a dental examination. Dr. Maryam Bangash can identify the signs of bruxism — worn tooth surfaces, micro-fractures, and jaw muscle changes — that patients themselves often cannot see. If you wake with jaw pain or headaches, or your teeth appear to be getting shorter over time, book an assessment at Dreamworks Dental Studios in Bahria Town Rawalpindi.

How long does a custom night guard in Rawalpindi last?

A custom-fitted hard acrylic night guard typically lasts 3–5 years with proper care. Soft night guards last 1–3 years depending on grinding severity. Store your night guard in its case, clean it daily with a soft brush and cold water, and bring it to your regular checkups so Dr. Bangash can assess wear.

Can children grind their teeth?

Yes — bruxism is actually common in children, particularly during the transition from baby teeth to permanent teeth. Most children outgrow it naturally. However, if grinding is causing significant wear or your child wakes with jaw pain, an assessment at our Bahria Town Rawalpindi clinic is recommended.

Is a night guard uncomfortable to wear?

Most patients adjust to wearing a custom night guard within 1–2 weeks. The initial sensation of having something in the mouth during sleep is unusual but not painful. A well-fitted custom guard is significantly more comfortable than any over-the-counter alternative.

Scaling and Polishing in Rawalpindi — Everything You Need to Know

By Dental Tips & Guides

By Dr. Maryam Bangash, DDS (NYU) | Dreamworks Dental Studios, Rawalpindi | Last reviewed: September 2026

Scaling and polishing in Rawalpindi — commonly called professional teeth cleaning — is the single most important preventive dental treatment available. Yet it remains one of the most commonly skipped dental appointments in Pakistan. In this guide I’ll explain exactly what scaling and polishing involves, why it matters far more than most patients realise, how much it costs in Rawalpindi, and what to expect during the procedure.

What Is Scaling and Polishing?

Scaling and polishing is a professional dental cleaning procedure that removes two things your toothbrush cannot:

  • Tartar (calculus) — hardened mineral deposits that build up on teeth over time. Once tartar forms, it cannot be removed by brushing — only professional scaling removes it.
  • Stains — surface discolouration from tea, coffee, tobacco, and food that dulls the natural brightness of teeth.

Scaling uses ultrasonic instruments and hand tools to remove tartar from tooth surfaces and below the gum line. Polishing then smooths and brightens the tooth surfaces using a rotating rubber cup and polishing paste.

Cost of Scaling and Polishing in Rawalpindi — 2026 Price Guide

TreatmentCost Range (PKR)
Basic scaling and polishingPKR 8,000 – 12,000
Deep cleaning per archPKR 12,000 – 15,000
Fluoride treatmentPKR 2,000 – 3,000

At Dreamworks Dental Studios in Bahria Town Rawalpindi, scaling and polishing starts from PKR 8,000 — including a comprehensive gum health assessment and oral hygiene education.

Why Is Scaling and Polishing Important?

The consequences of skipping professional cleaning are far more serious than most patients realise:

  • Gum disease — tartar below the gum line causes inflammation, bleeding gums, and eventually gum disease (periodontitis) — the leading cause of tooth loss in adults
  • Cavities — tartar creates rough surfaces where bacteria accumulate, accelerating tooth decay
  • Bad breath — bacterial buildup in tartar is a primary cause of persistent bad breath
  • Tooth loss — advanced gum disease destroys the bone supporting teeth, leading to loosening and loss
  • Systemic health effects — gum disease bacteria have been linked to heart disease, diabetes complications, and adverse pregnancy outcomes

Regular scaling and polishing every 6 months prevents all of these consequences at a fraction of the cost of treating them.

How Often Should You Get Scaling and Polishing?

For patients with healthy gums — every 6 months. For patients with a history of gum disease, heavy tartar buildup, or diabetes — every 3–4 months as advised by Dr. Bangash. Children should have professional cleaning every 6 months from the time their first permanent teeth appear.

What to Expect During Scaling and Polishing?

A scaling and polishing appointment at Dreamworks Dental Studios in Bahria Town takes 45–60 minutes and includes:

  1. Gum health assessment — checking for signs of gum disease, recession, or bone loss
  2. Ultrasonic scaling — removing tartar from all tooth surfaces using a vibrating tip
  3. Hand scaling — removing remaining deposits with precision hand instruments
  4. Polishing — smoothing tooth surfaces with a rotating polishing cup
  5. Oral hygiene instruction — personalised advice on brushing, flossing, and diet

The procedure is comfortable for most patients. Those with sensitive teeth or heavy tartar buildup may experience mild discomfort — inform Dr. Bangash beforehand and adjustments can be made.

Frequently Asked Questions — Scaling and Polishing in Rawalpindi

Does scaling and polishing in Rawalpindi damage teeth?

No — professional scaling performed by a qualified dentist does not damage tooth enamel. This is a very common concern but is not supported by evidence. Read more: Does scaling damage teeth? The instruments remove only the tartar deposits on the tooth surface — the enamel underneath is left completely intact.

Does scaling and polishing in Rawalpindi make teeth sensitive?

Some patients experience mild sensitivity for 1–3 days after scaling — particularly if significant tartar was removed from below the gum line. This is temporary. The gum tissue tightens around the clean tooth surfaces within a few days and sensitivity resolves.

How long does scaling and polishing in Rawalpindi take?

A routine scaling and polishing appointment at Dreamworks Dental Studios in Bahria Town takes 45–60 minutes. Patients with heavy tartar buildup or gum disease may require a longer appointment or multiple sessions.

At Dreamworks Dental Studios, scaling and polishing costs PKR 8,000 – 12,000, depending on how much tartar has built up. Polishing is done in the same visit, straight after scaling, and removes surface stains to leave the teeth smooth.

Wisdom Tooth Removal in Rawalpindi — Cost, Process and What to Expect

By Dental Tips & Guides

By Dr. Maryam Bangash, DDS (NYU) | Dreamworks Dental Studios, Rawalpindi | Last reviewed: September 2026

Wisdom tooth pain is one of the most common dental emergencies in Rawalpindi — and wisdom tooth removal is one of the most frequently performed dental procedures worldwide. Yet many patients delay treatment out of fear or uncertainty about what the procedure involves and how much it costs. In this complete guide I’ll explain everything you need to know about wisdom tooth removal in Rawalpindi — when it is necessary, what the procedure involves, how much it costs, and what to expect during recovery. For checkups, cleanings and everyday dental care, see our page on general dentistry in Rawalpindi.

What Are Wisdom Teeth?

Wisdom teeth — also called third molars — are the last teeth to erupt, typically appearing between the ages of 17 and 25. Most adults have four wisdom teeth — one in each corner of the mouth. Many people do not have enough jaw space for wisdom teeth to erupt properly, causing them to become impacted — stuck beneath the gum or bone — or to erupt at an angle that damages adjacent teeth.

Signs You May Need Wisdom Tooth Removal

  • Pain or pressure at the back of the jaw
  • Swelling, redness or tenderness in the gum behind the last molar
  • Difficulty opening the mouth fully
  • Bad taste or smell coming from the back of the mouth
  • Recurring infections around the wisdom tooth area
  • Pain or pressure in adjacent teeth
  • Visible damage to the neighboring molar
  • Cyst or fluid-filled sac developing around an impacted tooth

Not all wisdom teeth need to be removed. Some erupt fully and cause no problems. A digital X-ray at Dreamworks Dental Studios in Rawalpindi will determine whether your wisdom teeth need removal or can be monitored.

Cost of Wisdom Tooth Removal in Rawalpindi — 2026 Price Guide

Type of Wisdom Tooth RemovalCost Range (PKR)
Simple & Surgical extractionPKR 15,000–25,000

At Dreamworks Dental Studios in Bahria Town Rawalpindi, wisdom tooth removal costs are provided transparently at your consultation after a digital X-ray assessment. The complexity of removal — and therefore the cost — depends on whether the tooth has fully erupted, is partially impacted, or is fully buried in bone.

The Wisdom Tooth Removal Process — Step by Step

Step 1 — Examination and X-ray

Dr. Maryam Bangash will take a digital X-ray (or 3D CBCT scan for complex cases) to assess the position, angle, and root structure of your wisdom teeth. This determines the complexity of removal and the approach needed.

Step 2 — Local Anesthesia

The area around the wisdom tooth is numbed with local anesthesia. You will feel pressure during the procedure — not pain. For very anxious patients, additional relaxation options can be discussed.

Step 3 — Simple or Surgical Extraction

For fully erupted wisdom teeth, extraction is straightforward — the tooth is loosened and removed in one piece. For impacted teeth, a small incision in the gum is made, the tooth may be divided into sections for easier removal, and the site is cleaned and closed with dissolvable stitches.

Step 4 — Recovery Instructions

Full aftercare instructions are provided. Most patients return to normal activities within 2–3 days for simple extractions and 4–7 days for surgical extractions.

Wisdom Tooth Removal Recovery — What to Expect

Recovery from wisdom tooth removal in Rawalpindi typically involves:

  • Day 1–2: Mild bleeding, swelling, and soreness — normal and expected. Bite on gauze for 30–45 minutes after the procedure. Apply ice pack to the cheek for 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off.
  • Day 2–3: Swelling typically peaks on day 2 then gradually reduces. Pain is managed with prescribed medication.
  • Day 3–7: Most patients feel significantly better by day 3–4. Avoid hard foods for one week.
  • Week 2: Gum tissue heals over the socket. Dissolvable stitches dissolve within 7–10 days.

Contact us immediately if you experience: severe pain that worsens after day 3 (possible dry socket), excessive bleeding that doesn’t stop, fever, or difficulty swallowing.

What Is Dry Socket and How Do You Avoid It?

Dry socket (alveolar osteitis) occurs when the blood clot that forms in the extraction socket is dislodged before healing is complete — exposing the underlying bone. It affects approximately 2–5% of extractions and causes significant pain typically beginning 3–5 days after surgery.

To prevent dry socket after wisdom tooth removal in Rawalpindi:

  • Do not smoke for at least 72 hours after extraction
  • Do not drink through a straw for 24–48 hours
  • Do not rinse vigorously for the first 24 hours
  • Eat soft foods only for the first few days
  • After 24 hours, gently rinse with warm salt water after meals

Frequently Asked Questions — Wisdom Tooth Removal in Rawalpindi

Is wisdom tooth removal in Rawalpindi painful?

Wisdom tooth removal in Rawalpindi performed under local anesthesia is not painful during the procedure — you feel pressure and movement but not pain. Post-operative soreness is managed effectively with prescribed pain medication. Most patients are surprised by how manageable the recovery is.

How long does wisdom tooth removal take?

A simple wisdom tooth extraction takes 15–30 minutes. A surgical extraction of an impacted wisdom tooth takes 30–60 minutes. All four wisdom teeth can often be removed in a single appointment.

Do all wisdom teeth need to be removed?

No — only wisdom teeth causing problems or posing a clear future risk need removal. Fully erupted wisdom teeth that are properly aligned, easily cleaned, and causing no symptoms can be monitored and left in place. Dr. Bangash at Dreamworks Dental Studios will give you an honest assessment based on your specific X-ray findings.

Can I eat after wisdom tooth removal?

Eat soft foods only for the first 3–5 days after wisdom tooth removal — yogurt, eggs, soup, mashed foods. Avoid hard, crunchy, or chewy foods until healing is complete. Resume normal eating gradually as comfort allows, usually from day 5–7.

Child Dentist in Bahria Town Rawalpindi — Gentle Care for All Ages

By Dental Tips & Guides

By Dr. Maryam Bangash, DDS (NYU) — Fellowship in Implantology | Dreamworks Dental Studios, Rawalpindi | Last reviewed: September 2026

Finding the right child dentist in Bahria Town Rawalpindi is one of the most important decisions a parent can make for their child’s long-term health. A child’s first dental experiences shape their attitude toward dental care for life — making the choice of child dentist in Bahria Town Rawalpindi far more significant than most parents realize. In this complete guide, Dr. Maryam Bangash explains what to look for in a child dentist in Bahria Town Rawalpindi, what treatments children need at each age, and how to make dental visits a positive experience. For checkups and everyday dental care for the whole family, see our page on general dentistry in Rawalpindi. Parents can also see Dr. Bangash for their own care — see our female dentist in Bahria Town page.

Why Choosing the Right Child Dentist in Bahria Town Rawalpindi Matters

Children who have positive early dental experiences are significantly more likely to maintain good oral health throughout their lives. Conversely, a single frightening or painful dental visit in childhood can create dental anxiety that persists into adulthood — leading to avoided appointments, undetected decay, and costly treatment later.

At Dreamworks Dental Studios, Dr. Maryam Bangash has treated hundreds of children across Bahria Town, Rawalpindi and Islamabad — creating a calm, gentle environment where children feel safe and parents feel confident. As a child dentist in Bahria Town Rawalpindi with US training, Dr. Bangash applies the same child-friendly, evidence-based approach used in American pediatric dental practices.

When Should My Child First See a Child Dentist in Bahria Town Rawalpindi?

The general recommendation from pediatric dental associations is that children should have their first dental visit within 6 months of their first tooth appearing — or by their first birthday, whichever comes first. Many parents wait until their child complains of pain, by which time decay is often already advanced.

As a child dentist in Bahria Town Rawalpindi, Dr. Bangash recommends the following schedule:

AgeRecommended VisitWhat to Expect
6–12 monthsFirst dental visitBrief exam, parent education on cleaning and diet
1–3 yearsEvery 6 monthsExam, polish, fluoride varnish, habit counselling
3–6 yearsEvery 6 monthsExam, X-rays if needed, fissure sealants on molars
6–12 yearsEvery 6 monthsMonitor adult teeth eruption, orthodontic assessment
12+ yearsEvery 6 monthsScaling, orthodontic review, wisdom tooth monitoring

Common Children’s Dental Treatments at Dreamworks Dental Studios

Fluoride Varnish

Fluoride varnish is painted directly onto your child’s teeth and hardens instantly on contact with saliva. It strengthens tooth enamel and significantly reduces the risk of decay — particularly important for children who consume sugary foods or drinks. It is one of the most effective and comfortable preventive treatments a child dentist in Bahria Town Rawalpindi can provide.

Pit & Fissure Sealants

The deep grooves on the biting surfaces of back teeth are the most common sites for childhood decay — food and bacteria collect there and are difficult to remove with brushing alone. Fissure sealants are a thin protective coating applied to these grooves, effectively sealing them against decay. The procedure is usually comfortable and takes just minutes per tooth.

Baby Tooth Fillings

Baby teeth matter — they hold space for adult teeth, help children eat and speak properly, and affect self-confidence. When decay is detected early, a simple filling saves the tooth without discomfort. Dr. Bangash uses tooth-coloured composite and glass ionomer fillings — no visible silver amalgam.

Pulpotomy (Baby Root Canal)

When decay reaches the nerve of a baby tooth, a pulpotomy — sometimes called a baby root canal — removes the infected nerve tissue while preserving the tooth. This is far preferable to extraction since premature loss of baby teeth can affect the spacing of adult teeth. Dr. Bangash performs this procedure gently under local anesthesia.

Orthodontic Assessment

From around age 7–8, Dr. Bangash can assess whether your child’s teeth and jaw are developing correctly and whether early orthodontic intervention — such as space maintainers or early braces — would prevent more complex treatment later.

How to Prepare Your Child for Their First Visit to a Child Dentist in Bahria Town Rawalpindi

  • Talk positively about the dentist — avoid using words like “pain,” “needle,” or “drill.” Frame it as an exciting visit where the dentist counts and cleans their teeth
  • Read books or watch videos about dental visits — normalizing the experience before arrival reduces anxiety significantly
  • Choose an early morning appointment — children are generally less tired and more cooperative in the morning
  • Bring a comfort object — a favorite toy or blanket can help younger children feel more secure
  • Stay calm yourself — children pick up on parental anxiety. If you are relaxed, your child is more likely to be relaxed
  • Avoid bribing with sweets — rewarding a dental visit with sugary treats sends a mixed message. Choose a non-food reward instead

Frequently Asked Questions — Child Dentist in Bahria Town Rawalpindi

At what age should my child first see a dentist?

The first visit to a child dentist should ideally happen within 6 months of your child’s first tooth appearing, or by their first birthday — whichever comes first. Early visits establish good habits and allow the dentist to catch any concerns before they become problems.

Are baby teeth important if they fall out anyway?

Yes — baby teeth are critically important. They hold space for adult teeth, help children eat and speak properly, and affect self-confidence. Premature loss of baby teeth due to untreated decay can cause adult teeth to erupt in the wrong position, potentially requiring orthodontic treatment.

How do I know if my child has a cavity?

Many cavities in children cause no symptoms until they are advanced. Signs to watch for include white spots on teeth (early decay), visible holes or dark spots, sensitivity to hot, cold or sweet foods, and complaints of toothache. Regular 6-monthly visits to a child dentist in Bahria Town Rawalpindi catch decay before symptoms appear.

Is fluoride safe for children?

Yes — fluoride is safe and highly effective at preventing tooth decay in children when used appropriately. The amount of fluoride in professional varnish and toothpaste is carefully calibrated for children’s ages and weights. Dr. Bangash will advise on the appropriate fluoride products for your child’s age.

My child is scared of the dentist — what should I do?

Dental anxiety in children is very common and very manageable. Dr. Bangash uses a gentle tell-show-do approach, moves at the child’s pace, and never forces a procedure if a child is distressed. For very anxious children, an initial “meet the dentist” visit with no treatment — just a friendly introduction to the environment — can make all the difference.

How much does a child dentist cost in Bahria Town Rawalpindi?

At Dreamworks Dental Studios, a child consultation and polish costs PKR 5,000 — see the full pricing table above for all children’s treatments. We believe every family should know the cost before treatment begins.

Hollywood Smile in Pakistan — Cost, Process and What to Expect (2026 Guide)

By Dental Tips & Guides

By Dr. Maryam Bangash, DDS (NYU) | Dreamworks Dental Studios, Rawalpindi | Last reviewed: September 2026

The Hollywood smile cost in Pakistan is one of the most searched questions in cosmetic dentistry — and for good reason. A Hollywood smile can be life-changing, but so can the price variation between clinics. In this complete guide to Hollywood smile cost in Pakistan, I’ll explain exactly what a Hollywood smile involves, what it realistically costs, which veneer material is right for you, and what results to expect — written by Dr. Maryam Bangash, a New York University DDS graduate and US-licensed cosmetic dentist.

What Is a Hollywood Smile?

A Hollywood smile refers to a complete aesthetic transformation of the smile — typically using 8–10 custom-made veneers to create uniformly white, symmetrical, and perfectly shaped teeth. Understanding Hollywood smile cost in Pakistan starts with knowing what the procedure actually involves. For all our smile treatments, see our page on cosmetic dentistry in Rawalpindi.

A Hollywood smile treatment plan typically includes:

  • Digital smile design — a preview of your result before any treatment begins
  • Custom veneers — composite, Emax depending on your preference and budget
  • Gum contouring if needed — to create the ideal gum-to-tooth proportion
  • Professional whitening — for teeth not covered by veneers

Hollywood Smile Cost in Pakistan – Complete Price Breakdown

The Hollywood smile cost in Pakistan varies significantly depending on the veneer material chosen and the number of teeth treated. Here is a transparent price breakdown for Hollywood smile cost in Pakistan:

Veneer TypeCost per Tooth (PKR)Full Smile 8–10 Teeth (PKR)Lifespan

Hollywood Smile Cost in Pakistan vs Abroad — How Much Can You Save?

One of the most compelling reasons overseas Pakistanis ask about Hollywood smile cost in Pakistan is the dramatic price difference versus the UK, USA, and UAE:

CountryHollywood Smile Cost (8 veneers)
United StatesUSD 12,000 – 25,000
United KingdomGBP 8,000 – 15,000
UAE AED 25,000 – 50,000
Pakistan PKR 160,000 – 480,000

The Hollywood smile cost in Pakistan represents exceptional value — particularly for overseas Pakistanis visiting home who can access US-trained cosmetic dentistry at a fraction of what they would pay abroad.

Emax vs Composite — Which Is Right for Your Hollywood Smile?

The most common question after understanding Hollywood smile cost in Pakistan is which veneer material to choose. Here is a direct comparison:

FactorE-max PorcelainComposite
Hollywood smile cost in PakistanPKR 400,000 – 600,000 (10 teeth)PKR 200,000 – 300,000 (10 teeth)

Lifespan10–15 years4–7 years
Stain resistanceExcellent — highly stain resistantModerate — stains over time
Appointments needed2–3 visits over 2 weeks1–2 visits
Best forLong-term investment, best aestheticsBudget-conscious, faster results

What Affects Hollywood Smile Cost in Pakistan?

Several factors determine the final Hollywood smile cost in Pakistan at any clinic:

  • Number of teeth treated. Most Hollywood smile cases cover 8–10 upper front teeth. Treating more teeth increases the cost proportionally.
  • Veneer material. Composite is the most affordable option. E-max porcelain is the most popular premium choice.
  • Preparatory treatments. Gum contouring, teeth whitening, or replacing old fillings before veneer placement adds to the total cost.
  • Dentist’s qualifications. A Hollywood smile is a precision cosmetic procedure — the dentist’s training directly affects the result. Dr. Bangash trained at NYU and continues to practice cosmetic dentistry in US.

The Hollywood Smile Process at Dreamworks Dental Studios

  1. Digital smile design consultation: Dr. Bangash photographs your teeth and creates a digital preview of your new smile — you approve the design before any treatment begins.
  2. Tooth preparation: A thin layer of enamel is removed from each tooth to create space for the veneer. Local anesthesia ensures complete comfort.
  3. Impressions and shade selection: Precise impressions and shade matching are sent to our dental laboratory for custom veneer fabrication.
  4. Temporary veneers: You leave with temporary veneers while your permanent ones are crafted — usually 5–10 working days.
  5. Permanent veneer placement: Your custom veneers are bonded, adjusted for bite and aesthetics, and polished to a final finish.

Hollywood Smile Cost in Pakistan — FAQs

What is the Hollywood smile cost in Pakistan?

The Hollywood smile cost in Pakistan ranges from Rs. 200,000 – 300,000 for composite veneers (10 teeth) to Rs. 400,000 – 600,000 for Emax veneers (10 teeth) at Dreamworks Dental Studios in Rawalpindi.

Why does Hollywood smile cost in Pakistan vary so much between clinics?

The Hollywood smile cost in Pakistan varies because of differences in veneer material quality, dentist qualifications, laboratory standards, and clinic overheads. A very low Hollywood smile cost in Pakistan usually indicates unbranded composite material, limited dentist experience, or both — with significantly shorter-lasting results.

How long does a Hollywood smile last in Pakistan?

Composite veneers last 4–7 years, E-max veneers 10–15 years. With good oral hygiene the Hollywood smile cost in Pakistan is a long-term investment that pays for itself over many years.

Is the Hollywood smile process painful?

No — the procedure involves minimal discomfort. Local anesthesia is used during tooth preparation, and most patients experience only mild sensitivity for a few days after placement.

Can overseas Pakistanis get a Hollywood smile in Rawalpindi?

Yes — many overseas Pakistanis specifically visit Rawalpindi for Hollywood smile treatment given how competitive the Hollywood smile cost in Pakistan is compared to the UK, USA, and UAE. Dr. Bangash coordinates treatment schedules to fit within your visit window and provides full documentation in English for your records abroad.
