Dental pain rarely waits for a convenient moment. If you have a severe toothache, a broken tooth or a swollen face, you need to see a dentist quickly, not in two weeks. As an emergency dentist in Bahria Town, Dreamworks Dental Studios keeps same-day slots open for urgent cases at our clinic in Phase 8 Business District, so patients across Bahria Town can be seen close to home.
Call or WhatsApp 0332-3333577 and tell us what is happening. We will advise you on what to do right now and book the earliest available time.
What counts as a dental emergency?
Some problems need attention the same day. Others can safely wait a day or two. As a general guide, contact us straight away if you have:
- Severe or throbbing toothache that painkillers don’t control
- Swelling in the gum, face or jaw, especially with fever
- A knocked-out or loosened adult tooth after an injury
- A broken or cracked tooth with sharp pain
- Bleeding that won’t stop after an extraction
- A lost crown or filling that leaves the tooth painful or sensitive
Go to a hospital emergency department instead if swelling is spreading towards your eye or neck, or you have difficulty breathing or swallowing. These can be signs of a serious infection that needs hospital care.
What to do before you reach the clinic
Toothache
Rinse with warm salt water and gently floss around the tooth in case food is trapped. Take an over-the-counter painkiller as directed on the pack. Don’t put aspirin directly on the gum, because it can burn the tissue.
Knocked-out tooth
Pick it up by the crown (the white part), not the root. If it’s dirty, rinse it briefly in milk. Try to place it back in its socket, or keep it in milk, and come in immediately. A tooth has the best chance of being saved within the first hour.
Broken tooth or lost filling
Rinse your mouth and keep any broken pieces. A piece of sugar-free gum or temporary filling material from a pharmacy can cover a sharp edge until your visit.
Swelling
Use a cold compress on the outside of your cheek, 10 minutes on and 10 off. Don’t apply heat, and don’t try to drain a swelling yourself.
What happens at your emergency appointment
Dr. Maryam Bangash will first find the cause of the pain and get you comfortable. That usually means a focused examination and a digital X-ray. Depending on what we find, treatment may include:
- Draining an infection and starting antibiotics where they are clinically needed
- Starting root canal treatment to relieve pain from an infected nerve
- Smoothing, bonding or temporarily repairing a broken tooth
- Re-cementing a crown, or placing a temporary filling
- Removing a tooth that cannot be saved, including wisdom teeth
We will explain your options and the cost before we start. If you need further treatment, we will plan it with you rather than rushing it on the day.
Emergency appointment cost
An urgent consultation with X-rays is PKR 3,000, the same fee as a regular consultation. Any treatment needed on the day is quoted to you before it begins.
